Granby Play Days Preschool was formed in May of 2009 when it was learned that two preschools in central Grand County, the C Lazy U Preschool and the Mountain Family Center Preschool, were closing.
Some staff and parents of C Lazy U Preschool were urged to begin efforts to offer a new preschool in the Granby area that would fill the void left by the closure of the two schools.

The first effort of the new board was to secure a building for the new preschool. At that time, a lease was secured for the old Panther’s Den building owned by the Town of Granby at a rate of $10 per year. The building needed substantial work, both inside and outside, before it could be approved by the state of Colorado as a preschool. Funds were raised, mainly through private donors, to pay for the remodeling.

Former C Lazy U Preschool staff members assumed the teaching roles at the school. With considerable items donated from the C Lazy U Preschool and the Mountain Family Center Preschool, almost all the materials needed were on hand. With $8,000 in donations, the school was able to open with full enrollment and a waiting list, the second week of September 2009. In a continuing effort to improve our school facilities, we applied for and received multiple grants.
Where We Are Today
Where We Are Today
Over the course of time, the priority of the school has been focused on continuous quality improvements. In 2014 we began our quality improvement journey with a Qualistar rating. We have continued to pursue quality improvement and as of March 2023, have reached a Level 5 in Colorado Shines. Ratings have been an invaluable source of feedback for the progressive improvement of our program and facilities so that we may provide the best experience possible for our students.
Working side by side with our guidance practices, our enriching curriculum prepares our students for kindergarten and beyond.
The Incredible Years
This program provides teachers with 60 lessons ideally delivered to students 2-3 times a week. Lessons include puppets that engage children in activities that focus on problem solving, self-monitoring, emotions, anger management, and making friends. IY is laced throughout the entire program, meaning most of our language, problem solving, and guidance are modeled from Incredible Years and Pyramid.
